The tour takes you to one of the most famous historic centres in Sicily, loved by many and known by few. Savoca, the city of art (303 metres above sea level) is an old neighbourhood, high up upon the rocks. Since 2008, it has been noted as one of the most beautiful neighbourhoods of Italy, famous for being one of the settings for the film “The Godfather”, directed by Francis Ford Coppola.
The Trimarchi Palace, at the town entrance, in fact, still preserves the sign of the famous Bar Vitelli where Michael Corleone spoke with his future father-in-law. The historic centre of Savoca has other pleasant surprises for tourists. There are medieval and Renaissance constructions mixed with baroque and 1900 buildings.
Our second stop will be in Forza D’Agro, with its incredible panorama, monastery and intact picturesque historic centre. This town was also the set for some of the scenes of Coppola’s film.
Leaving the Valle D’Agrò, we move towards Taormina, the pearl of the Ionian Sea.
